Denia

Dénia is remarkably beautiful and it has a historic centre where the castle raises majestically right in the centre of town. Between sea and mountain, sheltered by Mount Montgó and by the Mediterranean Sea and next to the Cape of Sant Antoni, Dénia breathes the sea air.

 

The Mount Montgó Natural Park was officially declared as such in 1987 thanks to its landscape values, flora and fauna.

 

Mount Montgó extends forming the impressive Cape of Sant Antoni, which reaches the sea forming a 160 m. high cliff. At the feet of the cape there is the Cape of Sant Antoni Natural Reserve, with a high level of preservation, which gives it a high environmental scientific and ecological value. 

 

 When the Romans arrived here they named the town after Diana (Roman Goddess of the moon). Now Denia has a busy port for sailing boats and fishermen. There is also a ferry service which operates daily to Ibiza – a scenic journey taking just over 2 hours. Las Marinas to the north of the town has a superb sandy beach for swimming and sunbathing and the south coast Las Rotas is rocky with rambling footpaths over the cliffs and charming seafront. Denia’s coastal sea bed offers paradise for Scuba Divers in the marine reserve of the Cape of San Antonio.

The well known Mediterranean Motorway links Dénia with Valencia and Alicante and hence, with the rest of the Mediterranean coast also with the N-332 National Road.

 

 

 

 

Dénia is the nearest continental point to the Balearic Islands. Several shipping companies run regular transport lines with the islands.

 

 

Dénia is 100 km from Alicante International Airport (l’Altet) and 113 km. from Valencia International Airport (Manises).
